Rosemary Ogu is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist, University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Port Harcourt. She graduated (MB.BS) with distinction from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria, in 1999. Born March 25, 1973, in Delta State, Nigeria; Rosemary obtained a Master (MSc) in Reproductive Health from the World Bank supported Centre of Excellence in Reproductive Health Innovation, (CERHI), University of Benin, Nigeria. She has received numerous scholarship and honorary awards including the 1990 National Association of Women in Science & Technology Prize for Best Science Girls in Nigeria; the 2009 Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Commendation for Service to Rivers State; the 2014 Port Harcourt University Medical Students’ Association (PUMSA) Merit Award as Clinical lecturer of the year, the 2015 Nigeria Medical Students Association (NiMSA) award for Active Involvement & Promotion of Reproductive Health in Women & Youths ; the 2017 Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) National Award as MWAN Jewel; for outstanding Contribution to MWAN for achieving the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Status, and the 2019 MWAN Rivers Founder’s award for initiating programs that bring value.
